Google will notify you if your saved passwords get compromised

Security breaches is one of the most increasing issue nowadays, and most the users are do not even know if their passwords have been compromised or not. Due to which their credentials are at risk. However, to help you solve this issue, Google will notify you if the passwords saved in their Chrome browser has been compromised and will provide a way to fix it.

To ensure that a user’s passwords are not shared directly with Google themselves, Google will be using a special secured form of encryption before being sent to Google. After that, Google will compare with a list of credentials that are known to be publicly compromised to check whether your credentials are compromised or not.

Moreover, if your account has been compromised you would want to change your password. Google is making this process easier too by providing users a direct link to the relevant form to change the password for that particular account. Along with this, Safety Check is also rolling out to Google Chrome for Android and iOS, which will check for compromised passwords, if safe-browsing is enabled and ensure that Chrome is updated to the latest version.

For Chrome on iOS, Google is also adding biometric password authentication for auto-filling passwords, which is a feature that already exist in Chrome for Android. The feature is simple, when you want to fill in a password, you will need to authenticate it via FaceID biometrics.

These changes will be rolling out today to all Google Chrome users on both iOS and Android.

The Galaxy Note 20 event will be online on August 5, Samsung confirms

Samsung announced its second Galaxy Unpacked 2020 event, where the launch of the Galaxy Note 20, Galaxy Z Fold 2 and other products is expected.

This Galaxy Note 20 event will be held entirely online for the first time on August 5 at 10 a.m.Pacific time due to the coronavirus pandemic .

Samsung announced the event on July 7 and began sending invitations to journalists, somewhat confirming the arrival of the Galaxy Note 20 in bronze or copper (the same leaked a few days ago on the company’s own page).

In recent years, the second annual Unpacked has been held in New York at a face-to-face event.

In addition, just as the company did with the Galaxy S20S20 Plus and S20 Ultra, Samsung is not expected to present this new generation of Note with the name Galaxy Note 11 as many expected, but would take the numbering 20 to represent launch year.

According to rumors, Samsung would launch three versions of this snartphone and would follow the same naming of the S20: Galaxy Note 20, Galaxy Note 20 Plus and Galaxy Note 20 Ultra.

Among the most anticipated news would be, as usual, new functions in the S Pen, improvements to the cameras and updated specifications.

Rumors indicate that Samsung would abandon the time-of-flight sensor on these phones and that the Galaxy Note 20 may debut the Snapdragon 865 Plus and Exynos 992 processors to offer performance improvements over the S20 and other flagship phones that have already been presented. this year with the Snapdragon 865 processor.

Also, the successor to the Galaxy Fold would come with a name that would be combined with the excellent Galaxy Z Flip that we met a few months ago to be called Galaxy Z Fold 2.

According to rumors, the Galaxy Z Fold 2 would bring a hinge as outstanding as that of the Galaxy Z Flip, an external display with small bezels, and a large internal part without an eyebrow that would greatly enhance the experience of the Samsung flip phone.

During this event, Samsung is also expected to unveil the Galaxy Z Flip 5G. This phone would offer the same benefits of the Galaxy Z Flip that it announced a few months ago, but now with 5G connectivity and the same powerful Snapdragon 865 Plus processor.

The new Windows 10 start menu is now official

Microsoft has announced the new Windows 10 Start menu  that has been rumored for months.

The company already showed a preview of this start menu in March this year, which is already coming to the Windows 10 Insiders program, as the company explained in a blog post on July 1. The most significant change is that the new menu is visually more uniform when it stops giving so much emphasis to Live Tiles, a characteristic element of Windows 10. (Live Tiles are those “tiles” where applications or widgets are found inside the start menu and that currently have very striking colors).

“We are revamping the Start menu with a more uniform design that removes the solid color tiles behind the icons in the application list and applies a partially transparent uniform background to the tiles,” explains Microsoft in its publication.

Microsoft says it is still possible to customize the menu and that you can choose a color accent in dark mode for the Start menu, the taskbar and the activity center.

Along with an updated Start menu, the latest version of Windows 10 also includes changes to the Alt-Tab command (which helps you to access any open application or window faster). From now on the command will optionally show all the open tabs of Microsoft Edge (until now only the one that was active at the time of pressing the command was shown).

Finally, the system notifications now add an “X” button so you can close them when they bother you easily. These changes are already available to users of the Insider program and although Microsoft has not disclosed the date that all users will have access to these changes, it is expected to happen in some of the semi-annual updates within this year.

Google removes apps that caught stealing Facebook credentials

Google removed 25 apps from the Google Play store that were capturing user Facebook login information.

The applications, which pretended to be photo editors, file managers, flash apps, mobile games, among others, were created by the same developer, Rio Reader LLC. Together, the 25 apps exceed 2 million downloads.

According to a research report cited by ZDNet, the apps worked legitimately, but in the background they analyzed the apps running on the phone. If the recently launched or background app was Facebook, the malicious app displayed a Web page posing as the official Facebook login.

If a user didn’t detect that it was a fake page, they could enter their login details, which were sent to a now inaccessible server, says ZDNet.

According to the report, the 25 applications were reported since May by an investigative firm. Google removed the apps in early June, although some of the noted apps were available for more than a year, says ZDNet.
